Atelier Escapades was born from the desire to create beautiful items made with Scottish fabrics that tell a story.
We source our Harris tweed directly from the individual weavers and mills in the Hebrides, our tartans from a Lochcarron of Scotland in the Scottish borders and other gorgeous wool textiles from Johnston of Elgin. We also like collecting previously loved treasures, like vintage kilts, tweed jackets and vintage brooches and give them a new life.
Scottish jewellery, clothing, accessories and homeware items, all our products are handmade by us in our home-based atelier in Edinburgh.
If you have any request or want a custom order, feel free to contact us!
Behind the scenes…
Behind the sewing machine, computer, camera is Mathilde.
I am originally from France, and living in Edinburgh since 2018. I have been sewing since 2008. Costumes, clothes, accessories, anything that would push me to explore new skills and techniques.
After traveling the world, volunteering in gardens and vegetable farms in and across 3 continents in 2017, I have decided to settle in wonderful Scotland. Combining my love for textile, travelling, photography, as well as my wish to promote Scottish craftsmanship, I started Atelier Escapades.
This new adventure has given me the occasion to travel across Scotland, to meet artisans, craftsmen and women and learn so much about traditional Scottish textile manufacturing! I cannot wait for my next escapades in Scotland that will keep inspire me to create new products, use different materials and share with you the work of talented craftsmen ans women of Scotland.
